Next Era
Next Era is a statewide youth movement to promote healthier, tobacco-free and nicotine-free lifestyles.
Since 2017, Next Era youth advocates have worked across Louisiana as agents of change create to promote healthier futures for their communities.
Schools and organizations throughout the state host Next Era members. These members are trained on state and local policy campaigns, public speaking, community organzing, and more. After the training, Next Era members work to plan and lead their own campaign projects and events.
SOME NEXT ERA SUCCESSES INCLUDE
- 30+ local ordinances to create smoke-free bars and gaming venues
- Presentations at town hall meetings
- Educating school board members at school board meetings
- Presenting at national conferences
- Media coverage about our work
- Members selected to serve on regional and national youth advisory boards
In addition, groups, clubs, and organizations participating in the Next Era program receive financial support.
Next Era covers all costs associated with the Next Era training, events, and projects. Next Era partner recipients are NOT expected to utilize any portion of their award towards any Next Era program efforts.
BECOME A YOUTH ADVOCATE
Opportunities may include (but are not limited to)
- Develop leadership and activism skills.
- Attend state and national conferences to present your work
- Earn awards, and community service hours
- Be involved in creating real change in their school, community, and state
- Creating PSAs and being a part of media campaigns

- Fairs and Festivals

- Health Fairs
